This man getting off our bus somewhere between San Francisco and Santiago is typical of the style of the men here in Veraguas. When I hear the word "caballero," this is what I think of. Santiago is the capital of Veraguas, and is the hometown of Omar Torrijos, the former president whose suspicious death in a plane crash led to the military dictatorship of Manuel Noriego in the late 1980s.
